New Year in Italy, Sorrento

New Year in Italy, Sorrento,
"Buon Anno" in Amalfi Coast and Naples bay.

Day 1 (Dec. 28):
Arriving at Naples International Airport (Capodichino), or at Naples train station (Centrale), you will be located and greeted by an English speaking local guide. A car or bus will then take you to Mami Camilla in Sorrento where clean, warm, and cosy accommodations are ready for your entire stay.

On the way to Sorrento, you will have an opportunity for some sightseeing of Naples. At Mami Camilla, a welcome dinner party will be prepared for you, featuring live Neapolitan music and songs by a local musician.

Day 2 (Dec. 29):
A guided tour of Naples. After breakfast you will be directed to Naples, the third largest city in Italy today, was founded in 5th century B.C. and was once one of the most famous capitals of Europe, paralleling to Paris. We will walk along the streets of the historical centre to see "è bancarell" presentations of the Nativity scene. we will then visit Monastery of San Gregorio Armeno which gave the name of the neighbourhood. The Monastery was originally built in AD 725 with further additions made in 1574 and 1577. Afterwards, we will continue on to the famous Monastery of Santa Chiara and other beauties of the oldest architectures in Naples.

In the afternoon, we return to Mami Camilla for a demonstration of Neapolitan Pizza making in the typical wooden oven. Our chef will show you many different simple ways to dress the pizza; he will explain the origin of this art, the composition of the special oven, and many other secrets that make the Neapolitan pizza the best in the world.

Day 3 (Dec. 30):
A guided tour to Reggia (royal palace) Vanvittelliana at Caserta. Reggia Vanvittelliana is a monumental complex; created by the Bourbon king Charles III in the mid-18th century to rival Versailles and the Royal Palace in Madrid is exceptional for the way in which it brings together a magnificent palace with its park and gardens, as well as its surrounding natural landscape. It is
an eloquent expression of the Enlightenment in material form, integrated into, rather than imposed on, its natural setting.

Back to Mami Camilla for lunch and local sightseeing in the afternoon. We will visit Cathedral San Pietro e Paolo and the historical centre San Francesco cloister. Dinner back at Mami Camilla.

Day 4 (Dec. 31):
Beginning the new year with healthy gourmet and fun. Join our chef to the market to learn about local produce and spices in this unique day.

Back from the market, we will get into the mood for celebrating our own historical moment, say “ciao” to the old year –by preparing our last dinner. Under the guidance of our professional chef, Biagio, you will have a cooking experience of a lifetime orchestrating an energizing multi-course authentic Neapolitan holiday feast.

After the midnight we may move to Sorrento, main square to enjoy the fireworks and welcome the 2006, with a good bottle of Italian Spumante offered by Mamì Camilla.

Day 5 (Jan 1):
Take the morning to relax and then our chef will teach the basic secrets of the Mediterranean cuisine which is famous for a low-fat, low-calorie contents yet delicious traditional cooking. After dinner, Mamì Camilla will organize “ la Tombolata” game with prizes.

Day 6 (Jan 2):
Guided tour of Capri. After arriving Capri by ferry, we will visit Villa S. Michele in Anacapri and Augusto's garden. We may also have a boat tour to "grotta azzurra", a picturesque cave indenting the island's high, precipitous coast. Return at Mamì Camilla for a leisure and ready for dinner.

Day 7 (Jan 3):
Private transfer to the Naples airport. Time to say Arriverderci and Buon Viaggio!
